The Place was founded by Mark Rossiter and Deniz Veli in late 2022 to help people work on important things instead of the constantly urgent. We are based in Melbourne, Australia.

Mark Rossiter

CEO

Mark grew up on a sheep farm in Western NSW and studied business management at QUT.

Founded, ran and exited speciality product design company Five At Heart, growing it to have operations spread across Australia, Europe and North America, doing 20 million revenue annually.

CTO

Deniz grew up on the Gold Coast and studied Software Engineering at QUT.

He spent the last 15 years in senior engineering management roles for large development teams across tech companies including Etsy in NYC, Centr and Woolworth's MarketPlus in Melbourne.

The Story That Brought Us Here

Deniz and Mark have been friends since studying together at Queensland University of Technology. They have been planning on doing a major project together ever since, working on independent projects till the right one appeared.

During Mark's time running Five At Heart, he implemented best practice productivity tools designed to 'solve' the problem of email across the company to get more done per person. But the team kept reverting back to email to decide what to do now.

Seeing the pending market disruption of A.I., Deniz and Mark knew it was time to build a work tool that works with email rather than against it.
